The Snowy Week

Good Morning Montana!  We woke up Tuesday morning to a few inches of the white stuff.  It was really coming down, I kept thinking "It's pouring snow out there!" which is a new phrase, but one that is sticking with me. 

Luke was so excited he got ready super fast in all his winter gear, and Josh was excited but refused to even wear a coat.  Sigh. 

Luke wanted to go stand in it before we headed to the bus. 

Tuesday night we got to go to a Spire birthday party, where Josh got to climb a little while the birthday kids were climbing separately.  He kind of amazes me with his spidey skills

Luke's cub scout group is so fun!  They started their meeting with a game, and before I knew it Luke was on the ground. 

Friday I got to go to Luke's classroom for STEM.  We did an experiment to see which objects could change their matter (solid to liquid) by melting things in our hands.  The first graders took it very seriously -- their intensity surprised even their teacher.  This is them trying to melt crayons.

Halloween Week

Luke was inspired by a  Food Network Halloween special, and he made his own skeleton cake.  The bottom right is the gravestone, and the rest of the frosting is a skeleton. 

We carved pumpkins Thursday night.  The boys did everything themselves -- I cut the whole in the top and the boys did the rest. (Well, Luke wanted me to clean it out because "guts are gross" but he did all of the carving. 

He was having a great time before I asked him to look at me. I joked that he'll look at his childhood pictures with his wife one day, and she'll ask why they had such a sad childhood, and wonder what his mom was like back then.  I swear we have fun, I swear!

I love that they're independent enough to carve their own pumpkins but small enough to sit on the island.

Luke also happened to have PJ day at school, so that's a fun photo op.

Friday was costume party at school, so I came dressed as Princess Leia. I'm happy the boys are young enough that they're not embarrassed by my shenanigans yet. 

Luke's teacher is really fun!  They had a fun party with 4 centers.  This one was decorating a goodie bag.

The whole school did a big parade through school and out onto the playground.  This was their first ever time doing this, and I hope they do it again!  it was so much fun!

Josh was Kylo Ren, dressed in all black and a scary mask. He's the villain in the new Star Wars, Josh is borderline obsessed with him. 

Friday night daddy got home at 9:30. We missed him, he was gone all week.  Luke made an 'invention' for hauling boats while we waited for the Delta Airbus to land (that's what Luke calls any Delta jet.).

We went to Soby's Saturday morning. Luke asked for an X-Wing Fighter.  The cook totally nailed it!

This is Josh's "scary sea monster" -- very spooky indeed. 

Halloween Night was so much fun!  The Ryles and the Jenkins trick or treated through our neighborhood.  L to R - Ady the raccoon, Gabe as a Bobble Pumpkin Head, Luke as Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot and Josh as Kylo Ren.  We trick or treated for a few hours, then came home so the kids could hand out candy and scare kids.  That quickly turned to Mike and Tom scaring the kids with fire crackers,and then that turned into blowing up pumpkins with fireworks.  Tradition.

The Week in Pictures

hasn't this been the prettiest fall?  It's been so warm and lovely, I'm just so happy every day lately! 

We started our week with a big fat Birthday For Me!  I took a 4.1 mile run at lunch for my 41 years.  I really wanted to run down Willson Street, even though the leaves are a bit past their prime it was still amazing. 

Monday Josh had a football game, and then after that we went to dinner.  Josh is wearing his Peru shirt in honor our friend and ex-babysitter, Nelson, who left on his mission to Peru Tuesday morning. 

The boys had an epic nerf gun fight on Tuesday.  They couldn't talk to daddy on the phone because they were too busy battling (and looking for their socks?). 

Wednesday night we had back to back Cub Scouts.  Luke's age got to shoot bb guns at the fairgrounds first.  His group is the youngest, and I think they're so stinking cute in their tiny shirts and neckerchiefs.

This is Josh's target. He's a great little shooter -- especially when he covers his left eye. Plus he looks kind of like a pirate, which makes everything better. 

Thursday night we all slept in my bed. I stayed up late and came to bed to find This.  I blasted them apart and slept right in the middle of this cuddly warmness.  Blissful.  I only got one elbow in the head and one kick to the gut, mom victory for sure.

Friday we had special visitors! Gramma and Grampa Wright came from Kalispell to visit!  Fridays are so fun because we have Luke for an hour and 20 minutes before Josh gets dismissed from school.  We took him to The Secret Park near school. 

Gramma and Grampa brought these amazing donuts.  

Josh gave me a tiny portable printer for my birthday, and on Friday we were testing it out.  He's displaying the print job here.  

Friday night we started our Football Watching In The Cold weekend.  Hawks vs CMR. It was a fun game, the boys were so hyper and having so much fun.  

The last games of the flag football season were on Saturday. Luke got to play quarterback for a few plays.  this picture is to illustrate how slow and low the center "snaps" aka slides the ball back to QB.  It's very very cautious.

Josh's team had a great season.  Actually, both boys' teams were undefeated! Josh was on the Packers, and Cash's family are cheese heads in real life, so they had props for the team photo. :)

Saturday we went to see Goosebumps. I asked the boys for a scary face.

Sunday morning I had some company on a morning run.  I told him I was running 3-4 miles and he said "I'm in!" so off we went. He did a great job. 

this is our path. Josh thought it was so cool that my app made a map of our route, and wanted to save it for next Sunday.  We ran exactly 3.1 miles, so I see why he'd want it to say. It's not exactly a logical route though, so who knows where we'll end up next time. :)
