Big Day, Big Big Day

We set off on our adventure to Red Rock Falls early and full of energy.

See that sass?

Should we follow Luke or Daddy?

Our midway point, Swiftcurrent Lake.  I cannot get over how clear and calm the water is here.

On the back side of the lake we found Red Rock Falls.  We read that they couldn't be seen from one vantage point, but we didn't realize that they meant it was a series of falls and pools and rocks to climb around.  My monkey boys loved this place.

This is one portion of it, one of our first views of the falls.

While we were waiting for Josh and Dad, Luke took some selfies  I love the tilted head "whats up?" look.

Conquered!

This picture doesn't do it justice. The valley was incredibly gorgeous.

This was our lunch spot, as picked by Luke.

After lunch when we headed back it was pretty hot, so Luke dunked dad's buff in the water.  He thought he looked pretty cute, and so did I!

My three boys hiking back....single file.

We commented that this pool looks like the perfect place to swim.  After a pretty heated negotiation, Josh talked us into swimming in our clothes. He didn't have to try hard to convince me, this is my favorite thing. :)

We swam over to the falls and then let the current float us back to the shore.
On our walk back to the truck, we were told that there were two moose in the lake. Sure enough, we got to watch the two moose swim in the lake and eat.
We were very lucky spectators.

The walk home was pretty long for Luke, so he got a ride on Dad's shoulders.  He crossed every single bridge with a horizontal stick, so this one was no different.

We went inside the Many Glacier Lodge.  It was gorgeous, and we enjoyed our time there.  Silly boys in front of the only bighorn sheep we saw.

The lodges kept everyone very informed about the status of the Reynold's Creek Fire.  It impacted our trip, but only in a good way.  We couldn't drive over the Going to the Sun Road or explore St. Mary Area, but instead we were "forced" to visit Many Glacier and Two Medicine.  We ended up loving these areas, and were grateful for the fire diversion.

This is just a random picture of how dirty Luke's foot/ankle was.  ICK!

Here is our home on wheels, complete with dad's birthday present of a portable flag pole.

After dinner we walked down to St Mary Lake and let the boys kayak and Ruby swim.

Luke started whittling at our picnic table. Josh taught him some safety rules that Josh had learned at Cub Scout Camp, and so he was good to go.

Our campfire buddies.
