Bridger Bowl family ski day!

We had our first ever family ski day today!  Mike rode his snowboard, and the three of us had lessons that included rentals, so we just came up early and stayed late.  It was really fun!  Josh is CRAZY on skis.  Good God that kid scares me.  I can't keep up with him, and I am not sure I even want to try!

Luke, well, he's happy on the bunny hill alllll day long.  Me too, buddy!

Ruby and her brothers...

Ruby's really subtle when she wants to go for a walk.

Saturday afternoon was gorgeous, so Mike and the boys took the bikes and the dog out. Josh really wants to get into BMX, but the darn snow is in his way.

Luke loves his scooter!  He's smart enough to stay on the sidewalks. (for now...)

Ruby, well she just likes to run.

These two are good friends. Josh really wants her to sleep in his bed with him but she's still getting up for a potty trip in the middle of the night so we are holding off.  I think there is no sweeter thing than a kid and a pet.

Josh wanted to play basketball, and Ruby knew that balls are for her to catch so she was trying her hardest.
We have a picture of Sammy at this age in almost identical pose, I can't believe how similar they are!

This picture kills me -- she's trying soooo hard!

The weekend

Friday after school we met a friend (and his mom and sister...) at Laserdash. The boys were sweaty after just 15 minutes of battle. ps. I love the way Josh puts his hand on top of Luke's head when posing for a picture.  I wonder how long he'll be able to reach that.  10 years? 5 years?

Saturday morning was a heated race at the Pinewood Derby. Josh's car was fast, and had several 1st and 2nd place finishes. He was proud of his car's looks and performance. See, this is his proud/happy face.

Sunday we had more skiing lessons. Josh took off and we didn't see him again for the rest of the lesson, he had the lower mountain to conquer.  I, too, took off for more runs and was not back at the chairlift until the end of my lesson. Luke, however, hung out at the berm and got to ride on the bunny hill chairlift. Big day for our Lukey.

Ski Rookies

Josh, in his second year of lessons, started out on the chairlift to Snowflake.  He was assigned to a super fun instructor, who apparently thought Josh's chairlift banter was funny.

Josh is much more comfortable on skis than I thought he'd be, check out the crazy arms.

But maybe he should be a bit more in the moment, because these two crashed into each other seconds after this picture was taken. Boys.

This was at the bottom of Luke's first time skiing, even if it was a 10' berm of a run.

His class is fully of tiny little cuties.

He fell down a lot, and this was his extremely patient teacher picking him up. Again.

I took my first lesson today too. It was really fun. We started out with the basics like naming the parts of the ski, and then did the same drills that the babies did.  I moved a bit faster through them than the preschoolers (go Kath), and soon I was on Snowflake with Josh. See him in the left there?

This was my very first 10' run, just like Luke's above.  Not as scary as I thought!

Mike even caught me smiling.  I can't wait for the next lesson!

A week of randomness

Josh got a post-Christmas zip-up hoodie. His favorite joke these days is to zip it all the way up and ask "Am I smiling?"

Sunday night Luke and daddy made some homemade pasta (with gramma Harley's help...).  Luke is quite the creative kitchen helper.

I love that belly.  I can't help it...

Luke was just cuddling Ruby and asked if we'd take a picture of the moment. Who are we to argue with photo requests?

The boys LOVE to wash windows. Who knows why, and who cares if they do a good job, we are here to harbor good feelings toward cleaning. Luke takes it very seriously, as you can see.

He even gets the high spots.
