Josh's Football

Josh and Kyler, Cowboys for the season. We are so lucky that they're on the same team!
That's Josh on the white team, red long sleeves.  This is his three point stance.
And this is his blocking stance. :)

This is Kyler, white long sleeve shirt, in his three point stance.

And Kyler blocking.

Where's Josh?

Both boys' teachers do this fun app called Seesaw, and they send us pictures of the kids at school.  I love getting updates throughout the day!

Tuesday evening we gave away our play set.  As we were partially disassembling it, I came across this cute name carved into a side board.  It's very faint, but it says "Josh."

Luke thinks it is a great back yard for football and lacrosse now.  Or a trampoline, that would be best.

We got some new PJs and this one is my absolute favorite. He slept in it two nights in a  row, hood on both times.

We've had a busy week -- this was Wednesday's dinner in the car on the way from football to Cub Scouts.  I love his crooked collar, food on his face, messy hair and still smiling.

It was windy and his hair looked amazing!

On our way home from scouts, we saw the clouds sort of blanketing over the Bridger mountains.  So cool!

It was fun to see.

I got my hair done Thursday and I did a very bold (accidental) change! I went red.  Really super duper red.  I dyed it brown Friday, but it's still really super red.  I guess it matches my personality, fiery.

Friday Josh won a GRIT award.  The school is handing out awards weekly to students who are expressing grit, which are the characteristics that they hope our students build.  His award says "Josh is ready to give it his all each and every day.  He is a leader among his peers, and an outstanding example to others. Josh's positive outlook and generous spirit to all, make him a shining example of someone with true GRIT." I was so proud of him!

Saturday was Josh's first tackle football game.  I'll do a post from the pictures from our Real Camera after I fix a little technical difficulty, but for now, this is Josh blocking. He's #64, which you can't see.  He's the one with the red socks and red long sleeve shirt.

Saturday Luke had a friend come over, and they built this gigantic battle scene for about an hour! Josh has had a busy week -- he did Hunter's Safety every night this week plus 4 hours today (Saturday).  He's learned a lot and is going to a great little hunter.  Luke and I have had a lot of one-on-one time, which has been great, but we're ready to have our family of 4 back to normal. I'm going to Canada for work on Sunday-Wednesday, and Mike goes to California for work Wednesday-Thursday, so we might be normal again for the weekend.  We'll see...

FootballFootballFootball

This week was the first week of the boys playing football and apparently it was a blur because the first picture from my phone was from Friday afternoon!  Oops!

Friday afternoons Luke and I have our special 1 hour between his early release and Josh's regular dismissal time.  This Friday I asked him if he'd like to go to the Gallatin History Museum because earlier in the week he told me "I've always loved civil war history." We had a grand ol' time!  We got a our from Helen, who was 86 years old and walked with a cane. She took us around and kept saying "I'll just give you a brief story" until pretty soon we had been listening to her for nearly 1/2 an hour!

Saturday morning was Luke's first flag football game.  Go Falcons!  He is getting ready to return a kick off, I think...

Saturday afternoon we went to the Cats game with the Krazy Crew! Love these boys!

They think they're pretty awesome sitting up on the top rail of the stands.
Josh is so sweet to Ty. He pulled him over to his lap throughout the game...and Ty loves it as much as Josh does.

Sunday we got a huge surprise and gigantic delight!  Guy Hall! G!!  He was in town for the 1996 football team being inducted into the MT Tech Hall of Fame.  He had an hour to kill so we met for lunch.  It has been over 12 years since we'd seen him, and it was just like old times.

Sunday night is usually dinner with the Harleys, so Luke and I decided it was time to make an apple pie.  Luke did everything but cut the apples! It was delicious!
Out of the blue Luke came running downstairs dressed like this saying his name was BillWill.  He's got a hat, a mask, a too-small superman costume and of course, a donut-shaped pool floaty!
I had to get a picture of just the skin tight superman costume.  LOVE
And we're back at Monday!  Luke's practice is so fun to watch.  He's in the Seahawks jersey and the bright yellow shorts, leading warmups.

Last Week of Summer?

Josh is playing tackle football this season.  Doesn't he look so tough?

We had the cub scout den over to our house to make fires Thursday night.  They tried to start fires, it was complicated.

Fat bottomed girls make the modern world go round.

Friday morning I took a hike on Drinking Horse, isn't this view incredible?

Saturday Josh got his trombone. He loves it, and is great at making noise with it.  My favorite  saying is "this is my loudest" and then he honks!
This could be our last boating weekend of 2016, so we took advantage of the sunshine!  When we were in Kalispell we bought kid waterskis, and Josh decided to do the watersports trifecta.  He skied, wakeboarded, and surfed.  I was surprised, but not really, that he got up on his first try!

Luke liked skiing.  He got up on his second try (but we think he would have gotten up on his first try if Mike would have gunned it at "hit it" instead of giving him a nice and easy start...).  He said his right leg likes to go outside the wake so he had a hard time keeping his legs underneath him.

Ruby is not too sure about all of boating stuff.  She does not like it when her boys are out of the boat.

Josh wakeboarded again, first time in a while, and was trying jumps!  He got some big air!

He was cutting so hard I could see him outside the tower for this artsy photo.

Luke wakeboarded too, and he was trying jumps and grabs like he practiced at the trampoline place in Kalispell. He crashed on this one but it was big air!
Smiling Joshy! This completes the trifecta!

Nice wipeout, Joshy!

I finally started off the swim deck!  I'm surfing with dry hair, which has been a goal of mine for months.

They're both smiling!

Boat selfies rock.

We let Ruby go to the bathroom on shore, and after that she finally relaxed.  She kept looking out the boat for her people...just like a good watch dog.

We put in at the silos and the water was gross!  We found clear water way up north, but this is the crap we had to put in!
Look at that chunky wake!
Look at the crud on our boat!  I keep thinking of Christmas Vacation when Clark's lights finally come on and blinds her, she falls and spills her wine and she cries "my carpet!"  I was yelling "my boat!"

This melted my heart.  Easy like Sunday morning.
Josh is getting ready to hunt!  He's 10 and can do the apprentice thing this year.  He still needs a blind on one eye, but he's a sharp shooter.

Luke shot this water jug with his first shot!
